The criminal defense attorneys at Cobb Criminal Defense Law Firm absolutely have a lot of legal experience. In fact, it is absolutely required that any lawyer who works on our criminal cases has a minimum of ten years of experience in criminal law. We give priority to people who have never been a former prosecutor. Many people have probably seen advertisements or blog posts on websites in which lawyers will brag about the fact they are a former prosecutor, but that can actually be a negative thing. Why? It’s very hard to flip the switch in someone’s head from being a hard-nosed prosecutor asking a judge for months or even decades of prison time for someone, to a lawyer who suddenly works to keep people out of jail or prison. While that switch can be flipped, it can be hard for a consumer to know whether or not it has been. Helping people is what we are all about; harming them and sending them to jail and prison is completely alien to us. So, we want to work with people who share our mindset, which is one of helping clients to the very best of our abilities.

Where Is Your Office Now That You Have Formed Cobb Criminal Defense Law Firm?

The physical office for Cobb Criminal Defense Law Firm is going to be located in Gulf Breeze, Florida. However, we will still have satellite offices in Crestview, Madison County, and Fort Walton Beach, among other locations. The address of the new main office is 55 Day Bridge Drive, Gulf Breeze, Florida, 32561. Since we are a statewide law firm with a primary practice area of Escambia, Santa Rosa, Okaloosa, and Walton counties, we will have convenient locations for meetings in these areas. A potential client simply needs to call us and we will be able to schedule an appointment at one of these locations.

The location of our main office does not prevent us from taking cases statewide, and due to our emphasis on brain imaging, that means we have a statewide footprint. The basic reason we have a statewide footprint in criminal defense is simply that we have done more SPECT brain imaging litigation hearings than any other lawyer or law firm on the planet. In fact, there are no lawyers that I am aware of in the entire state of Florida who routinely use SPECT brain imaging, despite the fact that it is one of the most important discoveries in the history of law itself. At this point, we have not had a single case where a sitting circuit judge decided that the three things we have to prove (based on the point system) to depart from mandatory prison had not been found. In every single case, the judge has found that based on the evidence presented, they could depart from the mandatory minimum sentence. In all but two cases, the judges have departed from the mandatory minimum and followed our recommendation. We truly believe that the way to stop the problem of crime is by dealing with one person at a time, and as this area of our practice continues to grow, we anticipate opening additional satellite offices in various locations across the state.
