The legal system looks like an upside down letter Y.
It begins with a law enforcement investigation and then it goes through severa l different processes until it comes down, usually, to a point of decision. At this point of decision, a case either goes to trial or it goes to settlement. Along the way, 90 days can elapse between arrest and final conclusion or 175 if the case is a felony.
Now bear in mind, these timeframes can switch around in case a continuance is needed. This is just a basic primer so we’re only going to cover the basics.
