Florida Dui Lawyers:
Back to Driving School
Drunk driving can teach you a lot of things. It can teach you firsthand what a set of shiny handcuffs feel like. It can teach you how it feels to ride in the back of a police cruiser and what the Florida booking process looks like up close and personal. It can teach you what it is like to disappoint your family and possibly what the public transportation situation in your neighborhood is like. It will show you how costly one single mistake can be in terms of lost wages, fines, court costs and community service. But, perhaps hardest to take is that it will teach you how to drive all over again.
Florida DUI lawyers may work to get their clients reduced jail time and fines, but they cannot always prevent them from first losing their driver's license and then having to complete DUI school to get them back. For a first offense, your driver's license will be suspended for a period of 180 days to one year, but can be reapplied for as a hardship license if you are the family's sole provider and must drive to get to work or you are the sole licensed driver and must take family members to doctor's appointments, etc. In addition to DUI driver's school you may be assessed for treatment need. The court may require that you complete a treatment program before returning your driver's license. The cost of both the DUI school and any treatment will be your sole responsibility.
Keeping in mind that driving while under the influence is a crime in and of itself, it can get even worse if you cause damage to property or harm to persons. Your license will be the least of your concerns if that is the case because you may be facing extended time in jail. Florida DUI lawyers can often help their clients reduce some of the fines and costs that they face, but not always the jail time. Florida has minimum sentences in place for certain crimes including drunk driving.
